    Biography

Birth of Anna Kaworek in Poland, her youth, and the discovery of her religious vocation with the work of Father Bronislas Markiewicz.

Anna Kaworek was born on June 18, 1872, in Biedrzychowice, in the Opole region of Poland. She was the third child of Franciszek Kaworek and Franciszka Langer. Raised in a deeply Catholic and patriotic family, she grew up in a climate of spiritual resistance to forced Germanization. After her secondary studies in Ujazd, at the age of 21, she discovered the nascent work of Father Bronislas Markiewicz in Galicia. She arrived in Miejsce Piastowe on February 25, 1894. Despite a crisis of vocation in the face of extremely harsh living conditions, a pilgrimage to the sanctuary of Saint Anne's Mountain confirmed her determination to dedicate herself to destitute children.
