Biography
Birth, childhood, and marriage of Elisabetta Tasca Serena.
Pasqua Elisabetta Tasca was born on April 24, 1899, in San Zenone degli Ezzelini, in the province of Treviso (Italy). The youngest of seven children of modest farmers, Angelo Tasca and Luigia Battaglia, she grew up in a deeply Christian family. She helped her paralyzed mother starting in 1907 and received confirmation in 1908. On April 6, 1921, she married Giuseppe Serena.
Life and work
Her life as a mother of a large family facing material difficulties.
Elisabetta and Giuseppe settled in Liedolo di San Zenone, where she gave birth to thirteen children (twelve of whom survived). In 1945, they moved to Vò di Brendola to manage a sharecropping farm. Despite the bankruptcy of the farm in 1963 and her husband's illness (who died in 1967), she showed heroic strength. She died of bronchopneumonia on November 3, 1978.
Journey toward holiness
Spiritual guidance by Saint Leopold Mandic and the Christian education of her children.
Her holiness was forged in married and maternal life. She chose the Capuchin friar Leopold Mandic as her spiritual director, who accompanied her for ten years. She educated her children in a living faith, offering them daily spiritual and manual activities to avoid idleness.
Beatification and canonization
The process of recognition of her heroic virtues.
The cause for canonization was opened on December 20, 1991, by the Bishop of Vicenza, Msgr. Pietro Nonis. The diocesan inquiry took place in 1992. On December 6, 2014, Pope Francis authorized the promulgation of the decree recognizing her heroic virtues, bestowing upon her the title of Venerable.
Spirituality and legacy
Her Eucharistic devotion, the vocations of her children, and her memory today.
Her spirituality is Eucharistic and Marian. Four of her children dedicated themselves to God (two Passionist priests and two religious sisters). On her deathbed, she asked her children to sing the Te Deum in thanksgiving. Her tomb in Brendola remains a place of devotion for mothers.

My Christian marriage was born in the confessional of Fr. Leopold, and there this sacrament received its true light, which led me to Calvary. But Fr. Leopold said to me: "If you listen to me, God will bless you through the intercession of the Madonna and, at the moment of death, you will be happy!"
