Biography
Youth and entry into religious life of Eleonore Margarete Weiss.
Eleonore Margarete Weiß was born on June 12, 1882, in Kempten, Bavaria. Coming from a large family of twelve children, seven of whom died in infancy, she was deeply influenced by the piety of her mother, Albertine, following the premature death of her father, Carl, in 1890. After her schooling and two years working as a saleswoman, she entered the Poor School Sisters in Lenzfried in 1900. In October 1902, she joined the Franciscan monastery of Reutberg in Sachsenkam, where she took the name Sister Maria Fidelis and pronounced her solemn vows on June 21, 1904.

At the same time, she lived an intense mystical life with weekly visions of the Passion of Christ and the sorrows of Mary. On Good Friday 1919, she experienced a mystical union with Christ and offered herself as a victim soul. Afflicted by serious illnesses, notably laryngeal tuberculosis in 1922, she died with patience on February 11, 1923, at the age of 40.
