Biography
Youth, marriage, motherhood, and widowhood of Céline Chludzińska Borzęcka.
Céline Chludzińska was born on October 29, 1833, in Antowil, near Orsza (present-day Belarus), into a wealthy and pious Polish family. Despite an early attraction to the consecrated life, she married Joseph Borzęcki in 1853 out of obedience to her parents. Settled in Obrębszczyzna, she proved to be a devoted wife and an attentive mother, although two of her four children died in infancy. During the Polish insurrection of 1863, her active support for the insurgents led to her imprisonment by the Russian authorities along with her daughter Hedwige. In 1869, her husband was struck by paralysis; she cared for him with devotion in Vienna until his death in 1874. Having become a widow at 40, she left for Rome in 1875 with her two daughters.

The institute developed rapidly in Poland, Bulgaria, and the United States. After the sudden death of Hedwig in 1906, Celine continued her work and passed away in Krakow on October 26, 1913.
