Brigida Morello was born on June 17, 1610, in San Michele di Pagana, near Rapallo, in the province of Genoa (Italy). She grew up in a deeply Christian environment. On October 14, 1633, she married Matteo Zancano. Becoming a widow at 27 on November 11, 1637, without children, she took a vow of perpetual chastity and desired to dedicate herself to God.
