Saint Joevin

A disciple of Saint Paul of Léon originally from Great Britain, Saint Joevin lived as an anchorite in Armorica before becoming the coadjutor of his master. He governed the church of Léon in the 6th century and died one year after Saint Paul. His tomb, once an object of great veneration, is located in Plouguen.

    Origins and migration

    Originally from Great Britain, Joevin followed Saint Paul of Léon to Armorica as a disciple.

    His tomb is located in Plouguen, although his relics, once supposed to be at the cathedral of Léon, have disappeared.

    The body of the holy bishop was carried to Plouguen, a parish located ten leagues from Saint-Paul, and his tomb is still shown there, upon which one can see his statue lying down and dressed in pontifical vestments. This tomb, an object of great veneration, has long been empty: it is said that the relics of saint Jovin Disciple and coadjutor of Saint Paul of Leon, bishop in Armorica.
