In this category, a person is presented as dead before a return to life is attributed to a saint's prayer, word, or intercession. The account may concern a relative, a child, a drowned traveler, or a member of the community. Resurrection occupies a special place in Christian hagiography because it refers directly to the central hope of faith and often serves as a sign of conversion for witnesses.
